DIN 436

Square washer with round hole · 100 HV

A flat square washer providing a broad bearing surface, particularly for timber joints. Its round hole and parallel faces distinguish it from tapered washers for steel sections: select bore, side length and thickness for the assembly.

Technical drawing and dimensional range

Commercial selection M10, M12, M16, M20, M24 and M27 in 100 HV steel. Intermediate sizes and other geometries can be assessed on request. Nominal dimensions: also specify tolerances, material and finish for supply.

Indicative supplier-catalogue weight for each size in plain steel. It is not a normative or certified batch weight; do not transfer it to stainless versions or different dimensions.

The steel version described has hardness class 100 HV. Check bearing pressure on the substrate, washer bending and edge distances; a larger bearing surface alone does not determine joint capacity.

ISO, DIN and UNI: key differences

DIN 436

DIN 436 covers square washers, especially for timber construction. The current edition is 2024-10; this table describes a commercial selection and does not replace the complete standard. DIN 436 is not ASTM F436.

UNI 6596

Related commercial reference. Compare bore, side length, thickness and supply conditions; listing the references together does not imply exact equivalence.

Mating components

Related round washers are alternatives to compare for envelope, bearing surface and geometry; they are not automatically interchangeable replacements.

For timber construction, size the connection to the project requirements. The washer does not replace verification of the substrate or assembly-specific documentation.
