Flush Fasteners with a continuous head surface

FLUSH FASTENERS®

Flush fasteners. A continuous surface.

Concealed-drive stainless steel fasteners for assemblies where surface finish, cleanability and access for maintenance matter.

Designed to leave the surface clear

The retractable mechanism closes the drive recess when the tool is removed. It combines a flush appearance with access to the fastening.

Surface continuity

A head designed to integrate with the surrounding surface. Installation geometry must follow the selected product specification.

Concealed drive

The drive is accessible during installation and maintenance, then covered by the returning plunger.

Flush fastener surface designed for easier cleaning

Easier surface cleaning

Closing the exposed drive recess reduces a potential residue-trap area. The cleaning procedure still depends on the application.

THE MECHANISM

Access the drive. Tighten. Remove the tool.

Press the specified bit against the head to reveal the drive. After tightening, removing the tool allows the plunger to return to its flush position. Confirm the drive type, tightening instructions and installation dimensions for the selected reference.

Surface cleaning: a visual comparison

The original demonstration compares residue around different fastener heads before and after wiping. It illustrates surface geometry; it is separate from the quantitative laboratory study below.

Flush and two conventional fasteners with fluorescent tracer before wiping
Before wiping: fluorescent tracer applied to the fasteners.
Tracer residue on the three fasteners after wiping
After wiping: visible residue in the recesses of the conventional fasteners.

DOCUMENTED TESTING

Read the results in context

Residual contamination

The manufacturer publishes a study comparing 32 Flush and 32 slotted fasteners after Bacillus subtilis inoculation and a defined disinfection procedure. Mean residual colony counts were 3.17 and 172.64 respectively: over 98% lower for the tested Flush samples.

This result applies to the study conditions and is not a general guarantee of sterility or contamination prevention.

Salt-spray corrosion

The published 168-hour ASTM B117 test examined four fasteners. Two showed no red rust; the other two showed localized red rust on 5% and 10% of their surfaces. All four remained functional.

Laboratory exposure is not a prediction of service life or universal suitability for marine use.
